The pool is open every summer from late May until early September

Thank you to all volunteers who help us run the pool. Without volunteers we would be unable to open and your support is greatly appreciated. We always welcome new members to the pool committee and new volunteers. This can involve a range of activities from fundraising to maintenance and marketing to shop volunteering.

At over 900ft above sea level, Shap Swimming Pool is England’s highest open air heated pool.  Our fully enclosed pool is 16.5 metres long, 1.5 metres at the deep end and is heated. Please be aware that as an outdoor pool, the water can feel a little cooler if it’s windy or the sun isn’t shining! We also have a toddler splash pool which is warm enough for little ones.

We have small shop that sells drinks and snacks. A qualified lifeguard is on duty at all times.

We’re easy to find, just off the A6 in the middle of the village at the top of the playing field. There’s a car park at the pool and plenty of other parking at the main village car par. There’s a playpark and picnic tables just next to the pool.
